Athletics At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's High Jump
The women's high jump event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place between August 18–20, at the Olympic Stadium. Summary There were 17 athletes who made the final. The height of 1.93 proved to be the undoing for five of them, even though all of them had cleared 1.94 in qualifying the day earlier. Among the non-qualifiers were World indoor Champion Vashti Cunningham and European silver medalist Airinė Palšytė. Eight more were excised at 1.97 m, leaving the medalists plus one extra. Waving her fingers at the bar before she jumped, 37 year old Ruth Beitia remained perfect to that point. Mirela Demireva was jumping over her previous best but made it on her first attempt as well. She was in second place with one miss earlier in the competition. Blanka Vlašić had one miss at every height, a pattern that put her in third place. Yelena Slesarenko
Yelena Vladimirovna Slesarenko, née Sivushenko (russian: Елена Владимировна Слесаренко; born February 28, 1982 in Volgograd) is a Russian high jumper. Largely unknown before 2004, she kick started the season by clearing 2.04 metres and winning the World Indoor Championships. When the outdoor season started she won the SPAR European Cup with the same result, improving her personal best from 1.97 (achieved in 2002). She continued her good form at the 2004 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal with a new national and personal record of 2.06 metres, beating the previous Olympic record, set by Stefka Kostadinova in 1996. Kamila Lićwinko
Kamila Lićwinko (née Stepaniuk; born 22 March 1986) is a Polish retired track and field athlete who specialized in the high jump. International Her personal bests in the event are 1.99 metres outdoors (2013, 2015, 2016) and 2.02 metres indoors (2015). Both are current Polish national records. She won the gold medal at the 2014 World Indoor Championship ex aequo with Mariya Kuchina. In 2015, the Pole finished 4th at the World Championships with a 1.99 m's jump, equalling her own-shared national record. Alessia Trost
Alessia Trost (born 8 March 1993) is an Italian female high jumper. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in High jump. She won the 2009 World Youth Championship in Athletics in Bressanone. She was the bronze medallist at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Biography Trost also won the Italian Youth Championship in 2008. At the first Youth Olympics 2010 she won a silver medal clearing 1.86 metres, to finish second behind Russia′s Mariya Kuchina. Sofie Natalie Skoog (born June 7, 1990) is a Sweden, Swedish high jumper. She represented her nation Sweden at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics, 2015 IAAF World Championships, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics, finishing seventh in the final round of the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's high jump, women's high jump. Levern Donaline Spencer, SLMM (born 23 June 1984 in Cacao Babonneau, Castries ) is a Saint Lucian retired athlete and high jumper. Spencer was a four-time Olympian for Saint Lucia and competed in eight World Championships. She was also a gold medalist at both the Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games.
